BAD BERLEBURG. The volunteer animal welfare workers urgently need the money and the donations in kind for additional equipment.
Thermal imaging drones, baskets for fawn rescue, entanglement devices, insurance, water protection for the helpers - the list of investments that the "Kitzretter Wittgenstein e.V." association, newly founded in early summer, has to make in order to be able to carry out its fawn rescues, is long.
The donations from two Wittgenstein companies came at just the right time for the fawn rescuers led by chairman Markus Surwehme: The cheque was symbolically handed over in the castle courtyard. Heinrich Fuchs from Stihl Service in Schüllar am Stein presented the fawn rescuers with a donation of 500 euros as well as a donation in kind. Marco Dornseifer, Managing Director of Bäcker GmbH & Co KG from Schameder in the Jägersgrund industrial area, had another 500 euros with him for the fawn rescuers.
Donations that the fawn rescuers are happy about and that Markus Surwehme already sees as well invested: "A water protection for our helpers, scaring devices and another drone still have to be purchased," explains the first chairman. So the donations from the two Wittgenstein companies are a good help in saving more fawns from mowing. Of course, the donations cannot completely cover these necessary purchases, but the two donors have created a good solid foundation in any case. "Without such committed people, we would not be able to carry out our work in this form," says Markus Surwehme.
A thermal imaging drone suitable for rescue operations alone costs 6000 euros, explains the expert.
